My 15 Minute Intention Setting Morning Routine

If you’re like me, you have a million things on your mind as soon as you wake up in the morning. If I’m not mindful, I’ll visualize my entire daily task list before leaving my bed. However, I’ve found that if I allow my day to start off with my anxiety inducing task list leading the way, my state of mind throughout the day is usually filled with angst as well. To combat my natural inclination, and to truly dictate the direction of my day, I created a 15-minute morning routine that is concise enough for sustainability, yet meaty enough to fully ground me and positively motivate me towards my daily goals. Find my 5 step, high vibe, intention setting, morning routine below!

Step 1: Aromatics & Sound

As soon as I wake up, I light a few of my favorite scents (my fav is White Barn’s Cactus Blossom) and play a high vibrational song (I currently have India Arie’s Follow the Sun on repeat) to establish a positive, calming, feel-good mood and springboard for the remainder of my morning routine.

Step 2: Gratitude Expression

After my mood is set, I write three things that I am grateful for. These can be things that occurred the day before, that week, or things that I am grateful for in general (my home, family, health, etc.) As I recall the three things that I am grateful for, I mindfully reflect on each, through identifying the person, place, occurrence, etc. and writing them on separate post-it notes, and placing them in a glass gratitude jar. This practice reminds me of how truly fortunate I am (we all are!), and seeing my gratitude jar throughout the day continually reminds me that I constantly have something to be grateful for!

Step 3: Meditation

Next, I move into a 5-minute meditation to mentally and physically ground me in the present moment. I am currently using a mindfulness meditation by Goodful, which truly aids me in centering and cultivating my inward authority.

Step 4: Mirror Work

Then I start my mirror work. I repeat a series of 8-10 affirmations that are in alignment with my desired state of being. I repeat these affirmations 2x each, while looking at my reflection in the mirror. In doing so, I align my desired state of being with the present moment.

Step 5: Success List, Daily Affirmation & Prayer

Last but certainly not least, I create my task list for the day, which I refer to as my “success list.” My success list contains five meaningful and prioritized tasks that I will accomplish throughout the day. I seal my success list through writing an aligned affirmation 3 times, and through intentionally praying for support in all that I seek to accomplish.

Try it out! I would love to know your results in the comments!

With love,
